House and Home in a Time of COVID-19

Our home is today’s bastion of safety and security, now more than ever. In our war to defend ourselves against the unseen enemy that has kept us and the rest of the world on high alert,  we’re trying our very best to fortify body, heart, mind and home to defend ourselves.  Eversince Serious Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) Coronavirus–COVID-19 was first documented on New Year’s Eve, December 31, 2019, and pronounced by the World Health Organization last January 30, 2020 as a global health emergency, t has been taking lives by the hundreds daily, worldwide.  Though we are fortunate that there is finally a vaccine available that helps those infected to manage and lessen the symptoms, it doesn’t lessen our vigilance to keep ourselves protected, in all fronts, literally inside and out.

I am writing this today, as my husband Gerry tested positive three days ago.  My daughters, yaya and I are negative.  He must have caught it from someone else.  As we first tested ourselves because I was with my brother for over an hour last week, with clients, and he informed us two days after that he was positive.   His daughter and yaya were too.  They are all asymptomatic, but we still are monitoring their progress.

I am not panicking at all, but I am worried.  My daughter also admitted that she was so worried. Mental health and sanity, we need to keep it!

We are all fully vaccinated, thank God!  So I am grateful to God (and to the scientists who came up with this vaccine rapidly) that it’s working to minimize any potentially life-threatening side effects.

It’s alarming enough to hear of close friends catching and fatally succumbing to COVID 19.  And to have it enter your home is worrisome.  So natural defense mode came up, as we try to work with our ‘new normal’ to address this, and prevent further infections.  And more than just fighting a case at home, we’re managing the family’s current work-study-live environment to minimize its entry here.  Eversince lockdowns were ordered by the IATF, we are not only trying to keep healthy, but sane, happy and productive inside.
